Personnel from the Ghana Armed Forces have paid a familiarisation visit to the Continental Blue Investment Ghana, producers of Supacem cement at the factory site at the Free Zones Board near Tema. The officers who were led by the Air Vice Marshal Frank Hanson of the Ghana Air Forces toured various departments including the Mill, Packing Plant, Control Room, Physical and the Chemical Laboratories.They were briefed on the company’s operations by some of the management team members led by the Managing Director, Frederic Albrecht.
The visit was used by the officers to show appreciation to the management of the company for donating 850 bags of cement to the Ghana Armed Forces. The company which started production in 2017 recently donated 2400 bags of cement to some security institutions as part of its corporate social responsibility.
The institutions include Ghana Armed Forces, Ghana Police Training School and Ghana Prisons Service at the Awutu Breku prisons in the Central Region. CBI Ghana is a subsidiary of the Switzerland base LafargeHolcim which is a global leader in cement manufacturing. With its central operations split between Zurich, Switzerland and Paris, France the company specialises in consultancy services and engineering within the global cement production industry.
In an interview after the tour, the Air Vice Marshal Frank Hanson thanked the company on behalf of the Ghana Armed Forces for the support. He said the role Supacem Cement plays in the nation building is paramount. Air Vice Marshal Frank Hanson said nation building is the responsibility of both the military and civil society so the company providing 850 cement to help provide accommodation for the military personnel will go a long way to benefit the nation.
“Our relationship with the company is to provide a relief that will help our retired personnel to build their own houses,” Air Vice Marshal Frank Hanson said. On his part, the Head of Security and Safety Coordinator the company COP David Ampah-Bennin (RTD) said Continental Blue Investment Ghana will soon come out with a public education on the company’s new super quality products which have some cost saving effect to give value to its numerous clients across the country. COP Ampah-Bennin recommended Supacem cement to the players of the the building and construction industry since the product has the highest quality in the market.
